The concentration in Sound Art will provide students with a formal understanding of how sound and music can be utilized in all of the arts as an expressive, sculptural, environmental, networked and musical medium. The curriculum for the concentration will focus on composition, improvisation, computer music, sound installation, psychoacoustics, sound track work, instrument design, sound art, radio art, critical theory and history.
The Sound Art concentration will help foster appreciation and application of the countless ways that musical composers, sound artists and visual artists have conceived of and developed sound as a unique and powerful artistic medium.
