School for Professional and Continuing Studies

A rich selection and varied schedule make the School for Professional and Continuing Studies accessible for all who are interested in pursuing the study of art at Maryland Institute College of Art. The wide range of fine arts and design courses include classes and workshops in drawing, painting, photography, graphic design, Web design, and certificates in creative entrepreneurship and jewelry.

Summer Is Just Around the Corner!

MICA and the entire Baltimore region got slammed with record snowfalls this winter, so it's natural that everyone is thinking ahead to summer!   Here is a sampling of what the School for Professional and Continuing Studies has to offer this summer:

  • Young People's Studios Summer Art Camp (for children entering grades 1 - 8)
  • Portfolio Preparation Classes (for high school students entering grades 9 - 12)
  • Pre-College Studio Residency Program in Baltimore
  • Pre-College Studio Residency Program in Tuscany, Italy
  • Summer Travel Intensives in Chianti (Italy), Sorrento (Italy), Nicaragua, South Korea, Turkey, and New York City.
  • Continuing Studies courses for adults
  • Professional Development courses
  • Jewelry and Creative Entrepreneurship Certificates
  • Summer Undergraduate Courses

Students interested in Continuing Studies, Professional Development, Summer Undergraduate, Portfolio Preparation, and Young People's Studios Art Camp can register online.

The Early Application Deadline for the Pre-College Studio Residency Program in Baltimore and the Application for the Pre-College Studio Residency Program in Tuscany is March 31. The Final Deadline for the Pre-College Studio Residency Program in Baltimore is April 21. 

The Summer Travel Intensive program deadlines are:  March 12 (New York and Turkey programs) and March 26 (Nicaragua, S. Korea, Chianti, and Sorrento programs).
