Rob Rolleston '13 has always been fascinated by the way people perceive information about the world around them. So it’s no surprise that after working as a manager in Xerox’s Color Management, Strategy & Planning department, he would make his way into a career in Information Visualization.
Today at Xerox, he is a principal scientist in the Computing and Information Services Lab. He decided to attend MICA’s MPS in Information Visualization Program because “I was intrigued by this offering from an art school,” he said. “I come from a technical background and I strongly believe that InfoVis is an intersection of disciplines: design/perception plus data/analysis plus programming/implementation.”
The expertise Rolleston gleans from the program will allow him to play a larger role in helping Xerox shift from selling copiers and printers to selling services. “We help our customers deal with their business processes, and all the information that goes along with it,” he said.
