Graphic Design (MFA)

Graphic design is an interdisciplinary, cross-media field rooted in the fine arts-a public form of art that
engages commercial, political, social, technological, and cultural systems. MFA graphic design students
at MICA are encouraged to view themselves as cultural producers, "practical visionaries," and "utopian
entrepreneurs" who actively initiate projects. Whether the work takes the form of publications, Web sites,
products, or exhibitions, students focus on advancing a personal vision and public message.

MFA in Graphic Design Director Ellen Lupton Releases Fifth Book

Graphic Design Thinking: Beyond Brainstorming to be Released June 15

MFA. in Graphic Design Director Ellen Lupton's new book, Graphic Design Thinking: Beyond Brainstorming, is not an individual project. In fact, Lupton's students are her partners in the book's making and design. They, along with Princeton Architectural Press, celebrate the release of the book on Wednesday, June 15.

This interesting technique to book production is a part of Lupton's Graphic Design MFA
