David Gracyalny has been dean of the School for Professional and Continuing Studies at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) since 2001. The School for Professional and Continuing Studies serves a diverse student body of over 2,400 individuals that includes art and design professionals, educators, lifelong learners, amateur enthusiasts, students of traditional college age, teens, and children. In addition to studio art programs, which broaden access to MICA’s renowned instruction and facilities, SPCS programs focus on professional preparation and advancement for artists, designers, and other creative fields. In 2004, The School for Professional and Continuing Studies oversaw the launch and administration of MICA’s Certificate in Creative Entrepreneurship. Based on the experience of this program and research into the needs of creative professionals, the School for Professional and Continuing Studies designed and implemented the new Master of Professional Studies in the Business of Art and Design.
