Public Ceremony Unveiling This Year's Unity Mural
Culminating the first Unity Week celebration at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Congressman Elijah Cummings and MICA president Fred Lazarus will unveil the Unity Collaboration Mural during a public ceremony. Honoring the accomplishments and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the mural reflects the thoughts and perspectives about unity, social justice, and civil rights of MICA faculty, staff, and students through imagery and words. The unveiling includes a candlelight vigil, remarks by Congressman Cummings, short readings of Dr. King's speeches by six MICA students, and a reception.
The Unity Collaboration Mural continues to be developed through Thursday, January 24 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in Pinkard Gallery, Bunting Center at 1303 Mount Royal Avenue.

MICA honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during its first Unity Week celebration taking place Monday, January 21-Friday, January 25, 2008. In addition to the creation of the Unity Collaboration Mural, other activities planned during the week include film screenings and a conversation with Congressman Cummings.
