Two 2014 Sondheim Finalists Have MICA Ties

MICA Boasts Two Sondheim Finalists and 16 Semi-Finalists

The Baltimore Office of Promotions & the Arts (BOPA) has announced seven finalists for the 2014 Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize, including two MICA connections. Sixteen members of the MICA community are among the semi-finalists. The prize awards a $25,000 fellowship to assist the career of a visual artist or visual artist collaborators living in the Greater Baltimore region.

The finalists' artwork will be exhibited in the special exhibition galleries at the Walters Art Museum Saturday, June 21 through Sunday, August 17. An exhibition of the remaining semifinalists' work will be shown in MICA's Decker and Meyerhoff galleries inside the Fox Building, 1303 Mount Royal Ave. on Thursday, July 17 through Sunday, August 3. An opening reception for the semi-finalists' exhibition will take place Thursday, July 17 from 6-9 p.m., in connection with Artscape weekend.
