Ali Miller '12, Katherine Mann '09 and Laini Nemett '12, three MICA alumnae from the Hoffberger School of Painting, were awarded in this year's Bethesda Painting Awards, an annual juried awards competition that honors painters from Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
Ranking first place, Miller won Best in Show and received a $10,000 cash prize. Mann ranked in third place and was awarded a $1,000 in cash along with Nemett who won the Young Artist award.
This has been a successful year for Nemett; she and three other MICA alumnae -- Carly Witmer '12 (Hoffberger), Zoe Friedman '12 (Mount Royal School of Art) and Nancy Daly '11 (Photographic and Electronic Media) -- currently have their works displayed in the Alumni: New Ground, Director's Choice exhibit at the Rymer Gallery in Nashville, TN.
