Who really knows when the end is coming?
The big theme for summer blockbusters this year seemed to scream DISASTER!!!
After Earth, World War Z, Pacific Rim -- it might be easier to list the movies that didn't confront some version of the end of life-as-we-know-it.
This shouldn't be too surprising, as The Apocalypse, Death, and The Afterlife have fascinated artists for centuries. 2012 came and went without much fanfare, and here we are in 2013, still wondering about what the end of the world looks like.
Of course, everything in perspective... for the end of the world can also be a hyperbole. Computer crashes, breakups, spilt milk -- these little disasters deserve some credit for disrupting our lives, and they do make an appearance.
The exhibition will run from August 5 - August 23, 2013 on both floors of the Decker Library and features both books and DVDs from our circulating and non-circulating collections.
