3-year grant of $255,000 from Surdna aids college-bound artists and art teachers
The Surdna Foundation's strong support of MICA's Pre-College Studio Residency and summer low-residency MFA in Studio Art (MFAST) programs provides critically needed financial aid to college-bound art and design students and established art teachers, nationwide. The Foundation's recent grant of $255,000 over three years will support rising high school juniors and seniors and established visual art educators who are also practicing artists. During the grant period, up to 90 emerging young artists and 12 practicing art teachers will benefit from the prestige and the financial aid this grant provides. This most recent grant builds upon the existing legacy of the Surdna Scholars program at MICA which, in the last six years, has enabled 134 aspiring high school students and 23 practicing art teachers to deepen their artistic visions, pursue their academic dreams and excel in their roles as art educators.
