Sketchbooks are an integral, and often very private, part of an artist’s creative process. It is usually rare that others get a glimpse at the personal process... except for once a year at MICA.
The latest exhibit from Decker Library features sketchbooks selected from the 6th MICA Sketchbook Annual, which was recently held in the Falvey Hall foyer. This annual event is sponsored by the Drawing and Painting Departments celebrating sketchbooks and journals. Students and faculty also viewed some of the jewels from MICA's Decker Library book collection on this theme. The library has partnered by providing a selection to accompany the students’ work for the past several years.
This event, as in the past, was open to students who are invited to show their journals, which were displayed on tables for all to view. Also featured were several sketchbooks by faculty members.
Students with books on display are:
Yun Joo Hyun
Erin L. McCoy
The display in the upstairs and lower level cases will run from November 1 - 14, 2013 (the lower level cases hold books from the Decker Library collection).
