Magazine Considers the Program Among an Elite Group for Design ‘Pioneers’

Metropolis, a monthly architecture and design magazine, featured MICA's M.A. in Social Design among a list of new master's programs that "encourage students to work across the old disciplinary categories and see the bigger picture as systems thinkers, sustainability experts, and design strategists" in the publication's August issue.
Mike Weikert, director of the program, lent a quote to the article: "Our first batch of students includes candidates with political science and social science backgrounds who want to enter the world of social design. The diversity of the group is important, because the program is very much hands-on and learning-by-doing. We're going to be addressing real issues, with real partners."
"Much of this is uncharted territory, but if you fancy yourself a pioneer, one of these programs may be for you," wrote Avinash Rajagopal for the magazine.
