MFA in Studio Art Open House—Saturday, July 11

Check-in takes place at 12:45 a.m. in the Fox Building (1303 Mount Royal Avenue).

Faculty, students, and alumni of Maryland Institute College of Art's (MICA) low-residency MFA in Studio Art (MFA) will host a Saturday, July 11 open house for prospective applicants.

The low-residency studio graduate program attracts a range of experienced artists and art educators, all of whom are seeking to produce a professional body of artwork, develop a personal voice, and expand their understanding of contemporary art.
Intensive, six-week summer residencies form the backbone of the program, but independent work and an on-campus winter critique mean that students interact with faculty throughout the year. Areas of concentration include painting, mixed media, sculpture/installation, and photo/digital media.

Hosted by MFA in Studio Art Director Zlata Baum, the open house gives prospective applicants access to the program while it is in session.

Check-in takes place at 12:45 a.m. in the Fox Building (1303 Mount Royal Avenue).
Baum and Scott G. Kelly, Associate Dean for Graduate Admission, will then present a detailed overview of the program and the application process.

The day also includes a tour of MICA's campus, the MFA in Studio Art's studio facilities and the MFA Thesis Exhibitions.

Later in the afternoon, MFA in Studio Art faculty will review portfolios with individual prospective applicants. The open house concludes at approximately 5 p.m.

Space is limited for the July 11 event. To register, call Sarah Landon in the Center for Art Education at 410-225-2266 or e-mail her at slandon@mica.edu.
