In the April/May issue of Fiberarts, fiber faculty member and former chair Annet Couwenberg wrote about the department's innovative initiatives in smart textiles--or interactive, wearable electronic fabrics--and digital printing.
Couwenberg discusses her course, Smart Textiles Research Lab: Wash and Wear Technology, which she taught in fall 2009 with interaction design and art faculty member James Rouvelle. Also featured is fiber professor Piper Shepard's Pattern and Digital Print on Textiles class.
The article also briefly mentions Panoptic: An Experimental Fashion Event, the annual fashion event produced out of the experimental fashion concentration.
