January 19, 2009 marked the 200th anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's birth.

Although best known as the city where Poe died, Baltimore is using this year to celebrate Edgar Allan Poe's life through events and exhibitions all over the city.
The upstairs Library display cases have information about Poe's life and legacy in Baltimore.
The downstairs Library case shows off the Decker Library's small but impressive collection of Poe inspired books and artwork.
Images here are from Poe's Annabel Lee (Bvenos Ayres: R. Veroni, 1976; text in English and Spanish; lithographs by Raoul Veroni; Spanish translation by Miguel Alfredo Olivera), which is part of the Decker Library's book arts collection. For more information, see the Book Arts Collection catalog on the Library/MRC website: danube.mica.edu/library/ABCat/site/index.cfm.
