Summer at the Decker Library brings a new set of Artist Books on display in the cases on both levels through August 2011.
Collectible Editions is an exhibition of artists’ books editioned and self-published by students in the Printmaking Department's Artists Books and Papermaking course. The pieces are available for sale.
This exhibition challenges the notion that books are interesting only as gateways to text and knowledge. Books convey meaning as physical objects and all of the books presented at the Decker Library demonstrate a heightened attention to well-crafted material— including letterpress printing, handmade paper, and exquisite bindings.
Exhibitors include: Danielle Blevins, Nicole Chen, Hannah Erhardt, Eleni Giorgos, Allison Grimes, Erika Lipitz, Anna Orbovich, Kate Robinson, Ingrid Schindall, Jessica Sinks, and Krysten Watson.
Unique works by students in Laurie Snyder's class from Spring 2011, with a plethora of materials and techniques, themes and imagery, in a wide range of formats that have the book form as a reference point.
Students with works on display: Irena Azovsky, Kathryn Carey, Daniel Cha, Megan Darling, Eric Helgas, Cassie Huck, Yoojin Kim, Brian Metcalf, Justine Smith, and Ruth Tsang.
