WHAT: ARTSCAPE AT MICA: 2010 JANET & WALTER SONDHEIM PRIZE SEMIFINALISTS EXHIBITION
MICA once again serves as a venue for Artscape, America's largest free public arts festival and organized by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, with an exhibition of work by the semifinalists for the 2010 Janet & Walter Sondheim Prize. Of the 38 semifinalists in this year's highly competitive award, 24 are members of the MICA community. For a list of artists, click here.
The seven finalists, who have their work displayed at The Baltimore Museum of Art, 10 Art Museum Drive, through Sunday, Aug. 1, are Leah Cooper '09 (M.F.A. in Studio Art) and staff member; Ryan Hackett; Matthew Janson '09 (Mount Royal School of Art); Nate Larson (faculty in photography); Christopher LaVoie '08 (Rinehart School of Sculpture); Matthew Porterfield; and Karen Yasinsky (faculty in animation). The winner of the fifth annual competition will be announced during an award ceremony on Saturday, July 10 at 7 p.m. at The Baltimore Museum of Art.
