Art of Solidarity: Cultural Exchange & Collaboration in Nicaragua

MICA will welcome guest speakers from San Juan de Limay, Nicaragua, on Monday, Oct. 26 from 7:30-9 p.m. in Room 110 of Main Building. MICA and Baltimore are connected to this area of Nicaragua through the MICA in Nicaragua program, sustainable youth programs organized through MICA partnerships and community development projects in Limay sponsored by Casa Baltimore. During this event, the MICA in Nicaragua: Art of Solidarity Program will be discussed and guest speakers will talk about the social and political conditions in Limay and Nicaragua. Attendees can  learn more about the MICA in Nicaragua: Art of Solidarity month-long summer travel intensive program open to MICA undergraduate and graduate students. Program coordinator Maria Aldana (MICA BFA '03, MA '06) will discuss the important work students do during the program, which offers three studio credits in community mural arts (GFA) or documentary video (video and film arts), with an option of taking an additional three credits in art history.
