The Lazarus Legacy Fund was established to strengthen and sustain priority areas that President Lazarus recognizes as critical to the College's future.
In response to the retirement of MICA President Fred Lazarus IV, MICA's Board of Trustees has established a comprehensive plan to recognize his outstanding leadership of more than 35 years in transforming MICA into an international leader in art and design higher education.
This Trustee-led program, HONORING THE LEGACY, involves not only the MICA family, but also the Greater Baltimore Community, as well as many national arts, cultural, educational, and community development organizations that Fred Lazarus has deeply impacted throughout his career.
At Fred's request, a key element of the overall plan in the year ahead will be a comprehensive fundraising effort to sustain and strengthen initiatives to further MICA's position of leadership, both locally and nationally.
The Lazarus Legacy Fund Campaign will focus on three areas that are a priority of Fred and Jonna Lazarus and important to MICA's future.
Securing the resources to further the stature of MICA's graduate programs.
Securing financial support to sustain and enhance MICA's leadership in the Baltimore community and beyond—demonstrating the power of art and design to improve the lives of people and their communities.
These priority areas will be supported through the generation of new endowments, programs, and project grants. An ambitious Annual Fund goal for fiscal year 2014 is also included in the Lazarus Legacy Fund Campaign. All gifts—no matter what their amount or purpose—will be included in the Campaign total, giving every donor an opportunity to participate in this capstone philanthropic effort to strengthen the College and honor Fred's wonderful legacy as MICA's leader.
