Development Staff
Lucie Hughes

Lucie Hughes, Associate Vice President, Development, Alumni and Parent Relations

Lucie Hughes has worked in the development field for over twenty years, both as a consultant and a staff development officer. She has held key development positions with a number of organizations, most recently as Vice President for Brakeley Briscoe Inc., an international fundraising consulting firm. Prior to that, she served as Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and prior to that, as Director of Major Gifts for the University. Lucie also served as Director of Development Programs for Catholic Charities, and as Director of Development and Chief Advancement Officer for the Fund for Educational Excellence, both in Baltimore. She was the Director of Development for Hannah More School, a non-public special education school, and prior to that, the school's campaign director.

Her career began at the Johns Hopkins University in the Office of Alumni Relations. She also has experience in the independent school arena, working at both boarding and day schools, including St. Timothy's School, and the Friends School of Baltimore.

Lucie's experience in fundraising is extensive, as is her knowledge of the specific challenges and rewards unique to the education sector. Her strengths include: major and annual giving, capital and endowment campaigns, volunteer leadership identification, recruitment, and management, and strategic planning and organizational assessment. Lucie is also a seasoned communications professional and has managed: special events/alumni relations, public relations, publications, and marketing and media relations.

Lucie received her Bachelor of Arts from Washington College, Chestertown, Maryland, and her Master of Arts in Management from College of Notre Dame of Maryland.

Peggy Craft, Office Manager

Peggy began working at MICA in September 2007. She received her Bachelor of Arts in art history from the University of Mary Washington in 2005. Prior to coming to MICA, Peggy worked in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations for the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University for two years, first as an Administrative Secretary to Major Gift Officers and then as Administrative Coordinator of the Director of Development. She also worked as a summer intern at the Baltimore Museum of Art after graduating from college.

Cathy Burrier

Cathy Burrier, Director of Advancement Services

Cathy began working at MICA in the Office of Development in February 2002. She received her BS in Business Administration and Information Systems from the University of Baltimore in 1986. In addition to working at MICA, Cathy enjoys lazy days in front of the television and spending time with her family.

Jessica Villalba

Jessica began working at MICA in the Advancement Services in October 2008. She received her BA in Business Management with a minor in Spanish from Lynchburg College in May 2007. Jessica now is pursuing her MBA at University of Baltimore/Towson University dual program and plans to graduate in May 2011. In addition to working at MICA, Jessica enjoys playing soccer on an intramural league, running, crocheting, volunteering, and traveling.

Cindy Intorre

Cindy has been employed by Advancement Services since October 2005. She received her BA in Art from Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, GA in 1997. A photographer whose work resides in private collections from coast to coast, Cindy enjoys photography, films, cooking, traveling, and her cat, Red, when she is not at MICA.

Samantha Kelly

Samantha began working in MICA's Office of Advancement in October 2008. She received her BS in art with an art history concentration from Towson University in May 2007. While attending Towson University, Samantha was chosen to participate in the grant funded Baltimore Architecture Project. Samantha is a member and volunteer at the Creative Alliance at The Patterson and WTMD. Outside of MICA, Samantha enjoys photography, knitting, cooking, traveling, and yoga.

Laura Elliott

Laura began working in MICA's Office of Advancement in September 2009 after having been employed as an Information Systems Specialist at Goucher College in Towson, MD. She received her BA in Modern Languages with a minor in Music from Towson University in 1989. Outside of MICA, Laura enjoys writing fiction, online roleplaying, reading, maintaining fitness and spending time with her family.

Office of Alumni and Parent Relations

David Hart

David Hart, Director of Alumni & Parent Relations

David began working at MICA in the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations in September 2006. He received his BA in international relations and his BS in economics from Mt. St. Mary's University in 1984. David has worked in development for various arts & culture organizations for the past 11 years. In addition to working at MICA, David enjoys architecture, social networking and traveling.

Aaron Talbot '09, Coordinator of Alumni and Parent Relations

Aaron Talbot '09 began working in the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations in September 2009. He recieved his BFA in Graphic Design that same year. Aaron distinguished himself during his tenure at MICA through his many accomplishments, some of which include: Alumni Award for Leadership, Deans List for 4 consecutive years, and numerous scholarships. Aaron brings a strong set of communication, publication, and graphic design skills to his position.

Karen Stults

Karen Stults, Director of Corporate, Foundation and Government Relations

Karen began work at MICA in August of 2006 after one year as Director of Development at the American Visionary Art Museum and 15 years of non-profit fundraising and program development in Washington, DC. In addition to a M.Ed. in public policy and a B.A. in business and communications, Karen has a certificate in Ceramics and Sculpture from the Corcoran School of Art + Design, and a certificate in Museum Exhibition Planning and Design from Georgetown University. She loves Baltimore, lives in Hampden, and is a big fan of the city's vibrant, accessible art scene.

Lydia Kenselaar '07, Corporate, Foundation and Government Relations Officer

Lydia began working in the Development Office in April of 2007. She received her BFA in Fiber from MICA that same year. During her undergraduate career, Lydia worked in a number of different MICA departments, including the Admissions Office, Advancement Services, and Alumni Relations. She is a member of the MICA Staff Knitting Club, and maintains an active studio practice.

Amrita K. Dang

Ami began working in MICA's Office of Development in November 2009. She received her BA in Technology in Music and Related Arts from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in 2006. She is an active artist and musician and has been touring the United States since 2005. Her live music is a combination of pop and experimental, East and West. In February 2009, she received an Individual Artist award from the Maryland State Arts Council for music composition. She loves the dynamic arts scene in Baltimore and frequently attends performances, art exhibitions, and other events.

Erin Chrest

Erin Chrest, Director of Stewardship

Erin began working in the Advancement Office in January 2004. She received her BA in English from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2002 and her MA in Appalachian Studies from Appalachian State University in 2003. In addition to working at MICA, Erin enjoys cooking and playing the banjo and guitar.

Annual Fund Office

Carolyn Stratford Younce, Annual Fund Director

Carolyn began working in the MICA Development office in September 2002. She transitioned into the Annual Fund office in February 2006. She came from a background in non-profit public relations. She attended Millersville University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to working at MICA, Carolyn enjoys running marathons, reading and traveling with her husband.
