MICA at a Glance
Maryland Institute College of Art
Brown Center and Falvey Hall

With the opening of Brown Center in spring 2004, MICA gained a new, state-of-the-art 525-seat auditorium, Falvey Hall, which significantly expanded the range of events programming that the College could offer, including co-presentations in collaboration with a wide array of performing arts and cultural organizations in the region. Each semester, the College works with the Maryland Film Festival to present a major film series in conjunction with coursework in the Video Department. The first two series were a major retrospective of the films of Rainer Werner Fassbinder and a series, Politics on Film, in conjunction with the 2004 election season. Other events have included the production of plays by MICA students, monthly screening by Channel Organix, MICA’s annual Fashion Show, a panel discussion by the partners of the international design partnership Pentagram, lectures by internationally acclaimed architects in cooperation with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the presentation of a new piece by the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, and a sold-out performance by jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut.
