Molly Sydnor '15 (photography) - Clark's Occipital Lobe

Molly Sydnor

The cerebrum is the bulk of the brain, and can be divided into cerebral hemispheres. Our occipital lobes receive and interpret visual information and input. In an episode of Smallville, Superman Clark Kent receives his x-ray vision and takes a peek into the women's locker room.

We have no secrets and nothing is hidden. With layers of black silk organza and spandex, there is enough translucency to evoke an x-ray. The first layer's (Shirts, skirts, pants, and dresses) opacity allows the audience to have special powers of x-ray vision. The crowd can see through into each model's undergarments. The second layer is the lingerie, which is see-through as well, allowing the audience to see the female body if they look closely enough. In this manner, my line is focused on exploring fashion through the lens of Kent's visual power.
