Nobutaka Aozaki

Invited was organized by MICA's M.F.A. in Curatorial Practice and will feature site-specific artworks by local and international artists in 10 Station North businesses, as well as a celebratory-themed gallery show in MICA's newly renovated Studio Center Sheila & Richard Riggs and Leidy Galleries.

Nobutaka Aozaki

New York-based Nobutaka Aozaki was born in Kagoshima, the southern prefecture in Japan. Aozaki plays with everyday interactions to explore the relationship between art and everyday, artistic and non-artistic labor, and artists and their audiences. He often collects or produces traces of interactions with other people as mementos of collaborations and creates collective mixed media installations. His recent exhibitions include Play It Again at Hunter College Times Square Gallery, Art in Odd Places 2011 and New Filmmakers at Anthology Film Archives, all in New York. Aozaki has an M.F.A. from Hunter College in New York.
