Paper artist Jaime Bennati examines humans' relationship with material consumption. By collecting and gathering often overlooked materials, she makes the viewer question the way we impact our environment. Bennati creates three-dimensional forms that reference those found in nature. A large part of her work is based on process, and community-based work has become a major focus for her. Recently, while living in Goiânia in central Brazil, she began collecting bus tickets after realizing 200,000 are discarded on average per day. Bennati then worked with community members to reuse the tickets to create paper sculptures and collages.
