8:00 am - 12:00 pm Orientation & Housing Check-in

After you and your student have checked in, please park your car in a designated loading zone, unload your belongings (you will find willing, energetic Orientation Leaders ready to help), and quickly move your car to the University of Baltimore Parking Lot so that others also have a chance to unload.
9:00 am - 4:00 pm Taking Care of Business
Commons Gatehouse, Meyerhoff House Lobby & Brown Center, Leidy Atrium
In your folder, you will find a "Taking Care of Business Checklist." There
are a number of campus representatives and vendors available at our Resource Fair. If your student has not submitted an ID photo for their MICARD (campus ID card), please go to the Brown Center to have a photo taken by 1 pm.
11:00 am - 12:00 pm Parent & Family Orientation (for parents only)
Brown Center, Falvey Hall
Please attend one of these sessions designed especially for you. Representatives from the administration will share valuable information about your student's first year at MICA. Also, visit the Parents Council table in the Brown Center Atrium.

You may purchase a picnic under the Commons Tent for $10, or feel free visit a local restaurant.

A wonderful opportunity for you and your student to connect with peers and learn more about diverse communities at MICA and Baltimore.
2:00 - 3:00 pm Understanding Physical & Mental Health Services at MICA (for parents only)
Brown Center, Room 320
Parents are invited to a discussion with MICA staff about the scope of health, mental health, and learning support services offered to students to help them succeed within the MICA environment. The discussion will be led by Cheryl Garner, Associate Dean for Student Development, and will also include Pat Farrell-McLaughlin, MSW, LCSW-C, Director of the MICA Counseling Center and Dan Gutstein, Director of the Learning Resource Center.
3:00 - 3:30 pm Home Away from Home: Residential Living at MICA
Brown Center, Room 320
Parents and Families are invited to learn more about our on-campus housing and the unique environment that can shape students' on-campus living experience. We will help parents understand how to be successful community members and encourage their student to take advantage of all that we have to offer.
3:30 - 5:30 pm Dinner & Goodbyes

5:30 - 7:00 pm Parent & Family Welcome Reception (for parents only)
Gateway Gallery, First Floor
Incoming parents and family members are invited to relax and mingle before departing campus in the Gateway Gallery at an informal reception sponsored by the Parents Council. The Parents Council Members, Alumni Council Members, and college staff will be on hand to welcome parents and families.
6:00 - 11:00 pm Freshman Student Orientation Begins (for students only)

Your student will meet their Orientation Leader, Residential Advisor, and make new friends at this fun & exciting welcome session.
You will receive a finalized and detailed schedule of events upon your arrival to MICA on Thursday, August 23, 2012, for the start of Orientation.
