Bus Routes Closest to MICA
Route 3 - Cromwell Bridge Road/Sheppard Pratt Hospital to Inner Harbor
The 3 runs up Charles Street and down Saint Paul Street and Maryland Avenue, making it a convenient route to reach destinations all through the central part of Mount Vernon and downtown, not to mention the Inner Harbor. The Walters Art Museum is along its route in Mount Vernon, as is C. Grimaldis Gallery. The 3 can also be used to visit Charles Village, including the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Route 11 - GBMC/Goucher College - Canton Crossing
The 11 runs a route similar to the 3 through Mount Vernon and downtown, then turns east to curve through Harbor East, home to Whole Foods and a Landmark movie theater. From there it runs down Eastern Avenue into Fell's Point and then southeast into Canton. The 11 can be a great route to use for exploring the southeast side of Baltimore City. Like the 3, it heads through the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus next to the Baltimore Museum of Art, and also stops near the Walters Art Museum and C. Grimaldis Gallery.
Route 27 - Reistertown Plaza Metro Subway Station - Port Covington
Need to get to the Avenue in Hampden? The 27 goes down the Avenue and it has stops along Howard Street just west of the MICA campus. It also passes by the ever-popular Papermoon Diner in Remington. For much of the downtown and midtown area the 27 runs up Howard Street, making it a good way to go back and forth between downtown and the Studio Center just off of Howard Street on North Avenue.
Good Routes for Seeing Art
Route 1 - Sinai Hospital/Mondawmin to Fort McHenry
This bus can be caught next to the Baltimore Street light rail station and taken to Gallery Imperato in Federal Hill. The 1 is one of the few routes that ventures into Federal Hill at all, a neighborhood that is also home to School 33 Art Center and The Library on south Light Street and the American Visionary Art Museum on Key Highway.
Route 10 - U.S. 40 & Rolling Rd./Dundalk
The 10 also runs down Baltimore Street next to the light rail station there; from there it heads east to the Creative Alliance near Patterson Park.
Other Useful Bus Routes
Route 8 - University of Maryland Transit Center - Lutherville Light Rail
The 8 is a noteworthy route because it stops on Dulaney Valley Road at Towson Town Center, making it one of the only ways to reasonably use public transit to reach the Apple Store located there. But it should be noted that if you are taking it to Towson Town Center it's easier to take the light rail to Lutherville and then ride the 8 south; catching the 8 all the way down near MICA and taking it straight up is even more time consuming because of its frequent stops on Greenmount Avenue and the lower portion of York Road.

Bus arrival times are sometimes unpredictable. If you are using the bus to reach an appointment or interview, pad your schedule with a generous amount of time in case the bus is off-schedule. Read the route schedule carefully and arrive at the stop at least a few minutes early.
