Parent & Family Weekend

Parent & Family Weekend is a wonderful opportunity to bring families of students to MICA to learn more about the MICA experience. Families are welcome to take part in classes, meet faculty and staff, visit departments, learn about careers in the arts, see student artwork, and learn more about their student's experience at MICA.  Parent & Family Weekend takes place on February 15-18, 2013. Families will receive an informational mailing with full details about the event in late December/early January.

A letter from the Parents Council Co-Chairs

Dear Fellow MICA Parents,

This is the weekend you've been waiting for! A unique peek behind the scenes at MICA

Parent and Family Weekend is that once-a-year special opportunity for you to spend time with your sons and daughters, meet their friends and greet the parents of their classmates. You will experience for yourself the environment in which students live, create and study. It's your special chance to learn first hand what it means to be a student at Maryland Institute College of Art.

The staff and faculty have planned many events over the weekend designed to keep you informed and engaged. Learn how to talk with art students about their work. Hear about careers in the arts you didn't know existed! Participate in the always-popular, hands-on classes and express your creativity as you try your hand at making art. Gather information about exciting student opportunities for international studies. And all those questions you are aching to ask will, hopefully, be answered throughout the weekend.

MICA's campus is positioned in the center of Baltimore's Cultural Community, which is continues to experience a vibrant renaissance. Come and explore the city's renowned cultural treasures and entertainment venues. The official program begins Saturday morning, February 16th, but we encourage you to consider arriving on Friday or staying over through Monday to enjoy additional opportunities to visit classes, talk to faculty, meet other parents and informally explore the campus.

On behalf of MICA's Parents Council and the College, we cordially invite and encourage you to attend this year's annual Parent & Family Weekend '13. You'll be glad you did.

We look forward to seeing you,

Lindsay and Dick Leggin P'12 P'14
