Meet the Student Activities Staff!

The staff in the Student Activities Office is here to support you in your leadership goals, whether it be through becoming an Orientation Leader, Program Manager, Community Site Leader, or just navigating through all the awesome events going on at MICA. Whether you have one-time questions or work with us regularly, we are here for you--get to know us!

Fun Fact: I was on national TV for having an obsession with kitchen gadgets. 

In my spare time, you can find me: running, exercising, meeting new people, eating desserts, and overall, just trying new things! Oh yeah- and playing & caring for my new baby!

Kristin Lang, Assistant Director of Student Activities

Fun Fact: I won a bike on the Ellen DeGeneres show. 

In my spare time, you can find me: adventuring around Baltimore, going to festivals, movies, concerts, and bookstores, and talking about getting a Pomeranian in the next five years.

Kirsten Fricke, Assistant Director of Student Activities

Fun Fact: When I was a MICA student I won a grant to go on an archaeological dig in Italy fulfilling my dream to be Indiana Jones.

In my spare time, you can find me: planning world travels, building things, playing with my dog, and enjoying Baltimore with my friends and family.

Kristen Smith, Assistant Director of Student Activities for Community Arts

Fun Fact: I have been a natural brunette, redhead and blonde. Brunette at birth, redhead from 6 months to 1 year, and blonde for life.

In my spare time, you can find me: going out to eat, exercising at MICA Fitness, walking my puppy Bailey, and cheering for the Orioles & Ravens.

Ask Me About: the Community Arts program, days of service, volunteering around Baltimore, and Alternative Spring Break.


Mercedes Hightower, Program Coordinator, MDCCC AmeriCorps VISTA 

Fun Fact: I am currently deciding between careers as a deep sea diver, a forest ranger, a social worker, a secret agent, or an animal therapist. 

In my spare time, you can find me: relearning Baltimore, playing with my dogs, being ignored by my cat, haunting book stores, or watching movies. 

Ask Me About: working in the community (especially high schools) to bring Baltimore the arts!
