Fall 2011: Important Dates

Spring 2011: Important Dates

Last day to add a class or take CAP for credit: January 24, 2011

CAP application due date: February 4, 2011

(Mandatory) CAP Orientation: February 5, 2011

First CAP Professional Development Workshop (Mandatory for new interns): February 11, 2011

Note that CAP participation is limited to the first 75 students who submit applications.

Fall 2010

Applications are due September 20, 2010. Mandatory orientation takes place on September 25, 2010.

CAPfest and Exhibition

We are seeking volunteers for CAPfest, scheduled for Friday, April 16, 2010.  (The rain date is Saturday, April 17.)  For more information, see organizer Cait Byrnes' blog (capfest.blogspot.com).

Did you miss the March 31st  Mel Chin lecture?  A recording of the lecture has been posted on-line here.

Civic Engagement Conference at Towson University

Towson University''s Student Affairs Division is hosting the conference Planting Seeds of Service: Cultivating Civic Engagement on Saturday, April 10, 2010.  MICA will pay registration fees for the first 30 MICA students who register.

City Hall Exhibit

CAP will be represented at the upcoming exhibit on poverty and homelessness at City Hall.  The exhibit has been organized by MICA faculty member Craig Keller.   Further details are available on MICA's press release.

Career Fair

CAP will be participating in MICA's upcoming Internship and CareerFair.  The event takes place in Gateway, on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m.

CAP Orientation

Orientation will be pushed back to Saturday, February 13th due to the anticipated snow storm!  Check your email account for more information.

Campus Events of Interest

France-Merrick Fellowship Interest Meeting

Brown 413, February 13th at 12:00pm

The fellowship, worth $1750 or $3500,  is open to MICA students with at least two semesters of CAP experience.

LeaderShape Interest Meeting

Brown 413, February 13th at 2:30 pm

Representatives from the new Baltimore Collegetown LeaderShape program will be present.  Applications are now being accepted through http://www.baltimorecollegetown.org/resources/leadershape/ .  Applications to the National LeaderShape program are being distributed through our Student Activities office.

PAID Summer Internships with Maryland Nonprofits

A number of summer internships are available through  the 2010 Walter Sondheim Jr. Maryland Nonprofit Leadership Program.     The application deadline is March 22, 2010. Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year in the fall.

Student Affairs Community Service Fund

The fund is now accepting applications. Spring 2010 and Summer 2010 deadlines are February 19, 2010 and April 9, 2010 respectively.

CAP Bake Sale

A bake safe to benefit the 2010 CAPfest event will be held midday on Thursday, November 19th outside Bunting Center.

Opening at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital

Caroline Van Sicklin's mosaic tile installation will be officially unveiled on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009 in an invitation-only dedication. A public ceremony will be scheduled for later in the semester.

CAP Fall 2009: Important Dates

The CAP/Office of Diversity and Intercultural Development Open House will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2009 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in Bunting 200.

CAP Applications are due on Friday, September 18, 2009 to 200 Bunting.

CAP orientation will take place from 4:30 - 6:00 pm on Friday, September 18 in the space adjacent to Java Corner (2nd floor Bunting).

CAP Interns Design Mural for KidzStuff

CAP intern John Aquila is coordinating the design and installation of a mural for the the KidzStuff Program at 1900 Broadway (at North Avenue) in Baltimore City. His collaborators include: Ashley Garcia, Kerry Cesen, Karl Miller, and Andrew Pisacane. Blog coverage of the mural is available at Juxtapoz.

CAP Interns Attend Parade School

The CAP office sent five interns to Parade School, operated by Nana Projects. A full report is forthcoming.
