About this Gallery
The MA in Art Education program is designed for experienced art educators who are ready to pursue their development as artists, teachers, reflective practitioners, and leaders in the field of art education. While working in their summer studios at MICA, the art educators enrolled in the low-residency program are challenged to investigate a conceptual issue of deep personal interest during their two summer residencies at MICA's campus. The art in this exhibition parallels the academic research process the MA student/art educator explores in the MA in Art Education program. Each art educator identifies a research question of deep personal interest related to student learning in art or teaching practice. These questions are researched in the MA student/art educator's art classroom during the academic year. Students' completed research theses as well as research articles written for submission to peer-juried journals are on display at the thesis exhibition.
