International Students

Recognized as a premiere college of art and design, the Maryland Institute College of Art is the oldest fully accredited degree-granting college of art in the United States. MICA has an international reputation built upon the excellence of its faculty, the quality of its students, and the accomplishments of its alumni. From Iceland to Indonesia, students from 60 countries and territories have come from afar to enroll at MICA, accounting for nearly nine percent of the total student body—a number that has more than doubled in the past decade.

International students are warmly welcomed into the MICA community where the college provides specific services such as international orientation, immigration and academic advising, student connectors, academic tutoring and ESL services.

MICA is located in Baltimore, a city that is uniquely supportive of the arts, and of artists, and is a renowned showcase for cutting edge work in visual art, music, literary arts, film, theatre and performance. According to the American Institute for Economic Research, Baltimore is ranked the 5th best city to attend college based on academics, cultural environment, quality of life and employment opportunities. MICA is also named as a "Best Northeastern College" by the Princeton Review and a "Top 10 Ranked College of Art" by U.S. News and World Report.
