Who Should Apply
The Low-Residency MFA in Studio Art is designed for serious artists who want to develop a professional body or work in a low-residency program. The program selects students who can devote their summers to work and study at MICA while working independently during the academic year.
A portfolio exhibiting a level of mastery is the primary prerequisite for the MFA. Applicants must have at least 40 credits of studio work and 9 credits in art history and/or criticism.
Students considering the Summer MFA program may also want to consider MICA's full-time MFA programs including the Mount Royal School of Art, Rinehart School of Sculpture, Hoffberger School of Painting, or the MFA in Photographic and Electronic Media.
