Who Should Apply
The Art Education (Low-Residency/Online MA) program is designed for experienced artists-educators who are currently working in a variety of professional settings including K-12 public and private schools, museum education programs, and community arts programs. This program is primarily designed for artist-educators who wish to achieve a higher level of integration between their practice as an artist and as an art educator.
Please note that this is a professional development masters program and does not grant state licensure for teaching in K-12 public school settings. Students interested in attaining teaching licensure should consider application to MICA's Teaching (MAT).

The first essay should address your preparation and experience as an artist; the second essay should address your preparation and experience as an artist-educator. See guidelines below for writing the two essays: A. Your Preparation And Experience As An Artist.ESSAY: Please address each of the following topics/questions below. Describe what you believe to be the strongest aspect of your art making process (Refer to specific uploaded slide/slides that could demonstrates your response to this question). Describe how you would like MICA's MA in Art Education program to support your personal/professional goals as a visual artist. One paragraph. B. 5. Proof of Degree or EquivalentSend transcripts from ALL post secondary schools attended. Transcripts should be submitted to the Office of Graduate Admission in a sealed institution-issued envelope. |

8. Additional Requirements for International ApplicantsA. Proof of English language proficiency. If your native language is not English you must demonstrate proof of English language proficiency to gain full admission. MICA requires a score result on The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of at least 550 PBT (paper based test), or equivalent 213 CBT (computer-based test), or 80 IBT (internet based test). MICA also accepts a band score of at least 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). MICA's institution code is 5399. Note: International applicants who have received a 2, 3 or 4-year degree or diploma from an English-language institution are not required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score. A transcript from the English-language institution will be accepted in lieu of a TOEFL or IELTS score. B. Certified translations of all documents. Diplomas, transcripts, financial statements, and letters of recommendation must be submitted with certified English translations. |
