2013 Graduate Online Portfolio Reviews

Participant Submission Dates: September 15 through October 6, 2013

The Office of Graduate Admission online portfolio review program allows prospective applicants to submit their preliminary portfolio and statement to receive short feedback from graduate faculty. Although this review does not have an impact on your final admission application, it is an opportunity to refine portfolio materials prior to the January 15, 2014 admission deadline. Please review the page below for submission guidelines, participating graduate programs and deadlines.

What is the Graduate Online Portfolio Review?

Prospective applicants have the opportunity to upload 10-15 images & an artist/designer statement via SlideRoom for review by graduate faculty beteween September 15 and October 6, 2013. Graduate faculty will review the work and return feedback via email in mid-October. The goal is to give candidates an opportunity to learn more about our programs and faculty while refining their application materials for final consideration in January. Please note that faculty do not review candidates for final admission during this review process! A final application will still be required, but portfolio review feedback is intended to help prospective students determine what steps they can take to produce a competitive admission application. MICA's graduate faculty provide short, specific critical feedback to your portfolio. This could include suggestions, critique, responses to specific pieces or simply a general review of your portfolio as a whole. A typical response is approximately 150-200 words.

Starting September 15, 2013 prospective applicants to MICA's graduate community may upload a portfolio of artwork via mica.slideroom.com to the 2013 ONLINE PORTFOLIO REVIEW program. Please note that materials uploaded to the APPLICATION area will not be reviewed at this time. During the upload process, select the program(s) that will review the portfolio. All portfolios must be received by October 6, 2013 in order to receive a response. Please note that SlideRoom requires a $10 submission fee in order to process and store your work for review.

The Office of Graduate Admission recommends reviewing each program's specific guidelines before uploading a portfolio. Program-specific requirements and deadlines can be viewed by visiting Graduate Admission Procedures. Please note that a separate application and portfolio must be uploaded by January 15th, 2014 for application review.

Feedback

Participating students will receive feedback from graduate faculty beginning in mid-October. Feedback will be sent to the email address provided when the portfolio is uploaded. MICA's graduate faculty provide short, specific critical feedback to your portfolio. This could include suggestions, critique, responses to specific pieces or simply a general review of your portfolio as a whole. A typical response is approximately 150-200 words.

No final decisions or admission offers will be made during the portfolio review; please complete all required admission application requirements by January 15th, 2014 to be considered for graduate admission.
