Monday, March 30th 3-5 PM Faculty Technology Resource Lab
Art Tech Center 2nd Floor
Please join fellow faculty members for the next presentation on how MICA faculty are using technology resources and applications to support teaching and art-making. This is the second in a series organized and sponsored by the Academic Technology Committee and Technology Systems and Services and supported by MICA faculty. Other presentations and discussions will follow throughout the spring semester. Refreshments will be served.
Karen Carroll
Karen will show how faculty in the Art Education department are using Digication, a web-based blogging and web-gallery application developed at RISD, to support documentation of projects and communication between faculty and students.
David East
David will present on his class "Hybrid Methods" and the research he is doing on new technologies in crafts and design.
Laurence Acadias
Laurence will demonstrate the process of rotoscopy and the software “Painter”. She will discuss how these technologies are used in the creation of 2D animations in her classes.
Tim Aziz
The development and use of wikis as a departmental resource and as a course tool for classes. Tim teaches in Environmental Design, Foundation and Language, Literature and Culture.
We also have commitments from Jo Watson to do presentations. We will have an update on her status shortly
The Academic Technology Committee is a group composed of faculty, staff, and technology and academic leadership that meets every month to discuss technology issues important to the MICA community and to plan for improvements, new initiatives, projects and education related to the use of technology in academic and instructional programs.

Faculty Technology Presentations

The Academic Technology Committee is holding a series of talks and presentations by MICA faculty members on how they use technology in their artmaking or classroom teaching. Ellen Lupton, Sarah Doherty, James Rouvelle, and Christine Neil all presented in the Faculty Technology Lab on Febuary 26th to other members of the faculty and staff.
