Services for All MICA Students, Including Those Who Have Disabilities
The LRC offers academic counseling services to all MICA students. An LRC learning specialist can assist students with:
- Time management
- Study skills
- Reading comprehension
- Note taking
- Other academic challenges
In addition, all MICA students can make use of the LRC's assistive technology programs:
- The Kurzweil 3000 system, through headphones, reads scanned texts aloud
- Dragon Dictate, through voice recognition, aids in writing tasks
Please note: No disability documentation is required for academic counseling and/or assistive technology services. These services are available to all students in the MICA community.
Services for Students Who Have Disabilities
Students who submit documentation (see Documentation Guidelines) may be eligible for a variety of accommodations and services. The LRC considers all documentation on an individual, case-by-case basis. Once a student is deemed eligible for disability support services, the LRC will determine appropriate accommodations based upon the documentation and in consultation with the student. Please note: Procedures for requesting services will be explained, at that time, in consultation with the student. Accommodations and services may include:
- Test accommodations
- Note taking services
- Reading services
- Interpreting services
- Accessible housing
- Other accommodations and services
For an appointment, please visit or contact the LRC. We can be found in Bunting 458; via email at LRC@mica.edu; by phone at 410.225.2416.
