Important Semester Dates: Fall 2010
Below are the important dates for the semester. Print this list and post it someplace handy! Check back regularly for any updates.
August 26 & 29 - New and Transfer Undergraduate Student Orientation
Welcome to our new students!
August 30 - First Day of Classes
Please note that if you don't attend the first class session, the instructor has the prerogative to drop you from the course.
September - Senior Advising Month
All current Seniors must meet with their academic advisors for advising sessions to review academic progress and plans. Students will not be able to register for next semester until they have completed their advising. Don't wait until the last minute to make an appointment or you could miss this priority time! September 6 - Last Day to Add Classes Online
Upperclass students can add classes online through self-serve registration. If you can't meet the enrollment requirements (e.g. prerequisite, class level), you will have to submit an Enrollment Permission form to Enrollment Services that is signed by the instructor.
September 7 - Last Day to Submit Enrollment Permission Form to Add Classes
You can still add a class today if you were unable to add online.
September 15 - Study Abroad Application Deadline for Spring 2011 Study
You must submit your completed materials to the Office of International Affairs by this date. For more information on eligibility, affiliated programs, and the application process, visit International Affairs.
September 27 - Last Day to Drop a Class without Record
If you drop a course by this date, there will be no record on your transcript that you were ever enrolled. You may want to check with your advisor about possible consequences for dropping a course.
October - Junior Advising Month
All current Juniors meet with their academic advisors for advising sessions to review academic progress and plans. Students will not be able to register for next semester until they have completed their advising. Don't wait until the last minute to make an appointment or you could miss this priority time! October 11 - Last Day to Drop a Class with Record
This is the final chance to withdraw from a course. You will be awarded a grade of W (Withdrawn) for those courses. Grades of W do not affect your GPA. You may want to check with your advisor about possible consequences for dropping a course. Any withdrawal after this deadline must be appealed through Enrollment Services.
October 18 - Academic Warning Notices Mailed to Students
Academic Advising alerts students identified by their instructors as being in jeopardy of failing. (Letters are mailed to local addresses; if you don't have a local address, it will be mailed to your home address. If you don't have any active address in our system, you might miss receiving a letter.) It's important to follow up with your instructor and academic advisor on how best to proceed.
November - Sophomore Advising Month
All current Sophomores meet with their academic advisors for advising sessions to review academic progress and plans. Students will not be able to register for next semester until they have completed their advising. Don't wait until the last minute to make an appointment or you could miss this priority time! November 1 - Spring 2011 Schedule of Courses is Published
See course offerings and registration information for next semester. Read up on course descriptions and talk with faculty, other students, and your academic advisor to help you select courses for the spring. You won't be able to register for courses in December if you haven't met with your academic advisor.
November 17 - Last Day to Change Your Major, Minor or Concentration
You must submit a signed Change of Major or Declaration of Minor/Concentration form by this date in order to have any posted registration priority within that major, minor, or concentration.
December - Registration for Spring 2011 Begins
Check the Schedule of Courses for registration details and your Student Service Center for your specific initial appointment time. Remember: if you missed meeting with your advisor, or have a financial hold, the system will not let you register.
December 1 - Undergraduate Competitive Scholarship Procedures Announced
Undergraduate students with qualifying GPAs are eligible to compete for scholarships. Be sure to check carefully the application details and deadline. It's always a good idea to ask others to review your images before you submit them.
December 17 - Last Day of Classes
Congratulations on completing the semester! Have a great break and we look forward to seeing you in January.
