Presidential Search

The Board of Trustees of Maryland Institute College of Art has announced a search for the College's seventeenth leader and fourth president. The search was initiated after President Fred Lazarus IV announced that he will retire at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year, his 35th as MICA's president. The international search firm Spencer Stuart has been engaged to help facilitate the process.

President Fred Lazarus IV, the longest serving president of a four-year college in Maryland and one of the longest serving in the nation, announced that he will retire at the end of the 2013-14 academic year. MICA's Board of Trustees has begun a search for the College's next president, and will be assisted by the faculty, staff, students, and alumni. A search committee made up of seven board members, three faculty members, three staff members, and a student will review and interview a pool of candidates and make recommendations to the full board, who will hire the next president. The board's goal is to have the next president selected before President Lazarus' announced retirement date.

This site is designed to provide key information regarding the presidential search and a celebration of President Lazarus' legacy.
