Matthew Janson, 2009

Mount Royal School of Art

"A couple of months before I moved to Baltimore I was helping my Dad push the uterus of a cow back into its body after it had an accident during calving. As I sat with eight gallons of cow uterus in my lap I thought, ‘I should use this story.'

I'm interested in looking at animals and people to describe sculpturally the animals I find in people. My Perfect Human would be a Chimera with one wing, one arm, a mirror for a face, and the rest would be confectionary. I received my BFA from the College of Visual Arts in Saint Paul, Minn. and the cow died. Her calf made it though. It's the circle of life."
