Jin Young Kang received a BA with honors in German language and literature from Hanyang University in South Korea. Later, she transferred to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned a BFA with an emphasis in painting and drawing.

She is trying to create a painting space, which contains different visual gravity--heavy and airy, using the liquidity of materials, obsessive marks, and geometric shapes. Every shape, color, and size of mark is very precisely determined by her own sense.
