Lili Maya

Faculty – Graphic Design

Lili Maya is an artist with a diverse background in art and design. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with an MFA in Digital + Media and a BFA in Graphic Design and received the Tomas Gonda Prize of Excellence in Design and Social Responsibility. Prior to joining MICA, she was Assistant Professor of Art and Design in the School of Art and the Program in Arts Technology at Illinois State University. She has recently participated in exhibitions in New York, Boston and the Midwest and has maintained a strong graphic design practice in studios in major cities around the country such as San Francisco, New York, Boston and Chicago.

Research interests include literature, systems theory, psychoanalytic theory and sound. Formally and conceptually, bookmaking, drawing and painting have consistently been components of her creative process; as a result, traditional media practices are integral to her digital media work. Currently, she is working with drawing, painting, still image, video and sound to build interactive and non-interactive installations.
