Kristine Woods’ art practice is actively collaborative and moves across media - sculptural, textile, and social - to serve her interest in the relationship between the built environment and the sociopolitical concerns that it structures and engenders. Her work is informed by her history in performance, her teaching, and by 23 years as a Gynecological Teaching Associate. She has exhibited nationally, was a 1999 Fleischer Challenge recipient and is currently supported by a 2008 Creative Capital Foundation Grant for her project, Rag and Bone, with artist Susie Brandt. Kristine Woods received her BA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1990 and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2002. Woods lives and works in Brooklyn, NY and is full time faculty of the Fiber Department at The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD.
