Jane Hill

Adjunct Faculty – Foundation

Jane Hill was born in Washington D.C and grew up in Baltimore, MD. She attended Towson University for her undergraduate work and Pratt Institute for an M.F.A in Painting. In 1991 she moved to New Orleans Louisiana, and lived and worked in the New Orleans area for the next fourteen years. The immersion in the culture and landscape of Southeast Louisiana has been a crucial part of her artistic and personal development. In 2005 Ms Hill relocated to Baltimore Maryland. She currently teaches art at several Maryland venues including Howard Community College, Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore Clayworks, and others. She is the recipient of a "Restoration Residency" Fellowship at A Studio In The Woods-A Program of Tulane University, and has been supported by grants from the Joan Mitchell Foundation and the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation. Ms Hill works primarily in drawing and sculptural media. She is a singer as well as visual artist, and regularly sings on retreat with a group in Austin Texas, focusing on the music of Hildegarde of Bingen. She is currently writing a book on Drawing practice.
