Glen Kessler

Glen Kessler is an artist who places high import on craft in the construction of his paintings. In addition to his study at the Maryland Institute and New York Academy of Art, Kessler has honed his skills as a painter by copying masterworks at the National Gallery of Art. His independent work draws largely from his relationship to traditional methods, yet is undeniably post-modern in concept and implementation. As a teacher, Kessler is focused on instilling the virtues of skill as an essential means to any artistic end. He has taught in the degree programs of The George Washington University and George Mason University, as well as in MICA's PreCollege Program for six years. This Fall he is teaching Painting 1 and Painting 2 at MICA, and Drawing 1 and Figure Drawing at George Mason University.
