Faculty – Foundation & Master of Arts in Community Arts (MACA)

A native Texan, Fletcher Mackey came to MICA in the fall of 2005 and currently teaches in the Foundation and Painting departments and in the MACA (Master of Arts in Community Arts) in the Center for Art Education program. After receiving a MFA from California Institute of the Arts, he has worked with an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to creativity. In addition to teaching at Texas Southern University and as a visiting lecturer at Rice University, he has work in Houston in civic and public art development and as the Cultural Program Director at Project Row Houses. Several permanent outdoor installations of his work can be seen throughout Houston. The central focuses of many of his installations are myth, cultural identity and a fascination with transformation.
