Courtney Block has been a graphic designer since graduating from West Virginia University in 1985 with a B.F.A. in Art (concentration in Graphic Design and Photography). She has held various design and production jobs before starting her own business, Block Design, in 1991. Her clients range from local businesses and non-profit organizations to package design for various Head Ski products, featured internationally in Costco stores. In 1995, Ms. Block taught "Project Workshops in Graphic Design" at Shepherd University and returned to teach the same course for two more semesters. All that time spent in a classroom influenced her decision to pursue more education. Courtney graduated in 2003 with a Master of Science in Marketing degree from Johns Hopkins University's Carey Business School. Courtney has a personal connection to MICA as her grandfather studied in the "Mechanical Division" of MICA in 1915. When she's not teaching, Courtney can be found photographing live music shows or donating her services to Baltimore area charities.
