Ben Lock was born in Albany, New York in 1980. He attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh for undergraduate study and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2002. While a student at Plattsburgh, Ben received scholarship from the Nina Winkel foundation and interned at Franconia Sculpture Park in Minnesota. Ben completed his Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2007. During his time at UMD, Ben received the Anne Truit Fellowship and upon graduation the David Driskell award of excellence.
Ben has shown large scale public sculpture in outdoor exhibitions such as The Baltimore Sculpture Project in Maryland, Franconia Sculpture Park in Minnesota, and the McGuffey Arts Center in Virginia. His work has been featured in gallery exhibitions in Washington DC, Maryland, and New York.
