MICA faculty, alumni and students shared their knowledge and research with colleagues at the 2011 NAEA Convention, the largest gathering of visual arts educators in the world. The theme of the 2011 convention was "Creativity, Imagination, & Innovation in Art Education." The convention was held in Seattle, Washington, March 17-20, 2011.

Top Honors for MICA Community Members
We are very excited to announce the following members of the MICA community have been awarded top honors by the National Art Education Association. Their awards were presented to them at the NAEA National Convention in Seattle, Washington, March 17-20, 2011.
- Al Hurwitz, Ed. D. ‘41, Emeritus Chair, Art Education, has been selected as the first recipient of the Elliot Eisner Lifetime Achievement Award. To read more, please click here.

- Vanessa Lopez-Sparaco, M.A. in Art Education (Online/Low-Residency) Alum, Class of 2007, has been selected as this year's recipient of the Eastern Middle Level Art Educator of the Year Award.
- September L. Buys, M.A. in Art Education (Online/Low-Residency) Alum, Class of 2004, has been selected as this year's recipient of the Western Middle Level Art Educator of the Year Award.
