Providing Tools and Resources
- Identify and share best practices at MICA to strengthen service-learning
- Provide discretionary funding for project-based, community-engagement courses and activities
- Maintain an asset-based inventory of community engagement activity and identify characteristics of that activity (issue, scope, scale, duration, methodology, partner type, etc.)
- Serve as the College's primary point of entry for external partnership inquiries
Creating a Culture of Engagement
- Recognize and share community engagement activities and accomplishments
- Convene faculty, staff and students to share project ideas and outcomes
- Integrate community engagement messages and opportunities into core institutional activities
- Assist in streamlining student access to community engagement courses and curricula
- Sponsor community engagement campus activities and events
Advancing the Field
- Represent MICA within national, state and citywide dialogues and initiatives
- Pursue local, state and national community engagement distinctions and awards on behalf of the College
- Maintain annual "benchmark" data on service-learning and community engagement as required by various stakeholders including trustees, donors, advocates, and staff
- Support and develop evaluation tools that have the potential to improve programming and advance the field
