Finding Baltimore

Taught by Hannah Brancato, Finding Baltimore is an introductory course to community art, Baltimore, and social justice work. First-year students in Finding Baltimore collaborated with three community groups throughout the semester on projects for each organization. At Boone Street Farm, students worked on landscape improvements and created a new sign/community board for the garden. For Fusion Partnerships 15th Anniversary Conference, Finding Baltimore students created the conference pamphlet and hosted a photo booth in which attendees wrote their definition of "The Greater Good." Lastly, with Baltimore Redevelopment Action Coalition for Empowerment (B.R.A.C.E), students created posters telling the resident's story of redevelopment in East Baltimore. The class culminated with an exhibition of these and other semester long projects at the Station North Chicken Box, which allowed the variety of experiences to be viewed in the context of one another, and to bring each of the three communities together in one place. More info about this course and their projects can be viewed on their Tumblr page.
